Sydney is full of delightful markets brimming with fresh food, fashion, art and music. Here’s a breakdown of what’s on in our beautiful city, and what you can expect to find.

Brewery Yard Markets
28 Broadway, Chippendale

Open on the first and third Sunday of every month, Brewery Yard Markets not only offers fresh produce, fashion, homewares and live music, it also hosts special events such as the ‘Sydney Etsy Made Local’ every November. Grab a cold-pressed juice and a delicious Brooklyn Boy Bagel, and browse the unique wares on display, including jewellery, leather goods, candles, clothing and more.

The market is conveniently located in the heart of the CBD in Central Park, Chippendale. Just a five-minute walk from Central Station, it makes for a wonderful day out with friends or the whole family. If you’re looking to host a stall, simply jump online and fill out the form. There are different categories and sized stalls, and your booking price is discounted if you book for multiple dates.

Glebe Markets
Glebe Public School, Glebe Point Rd, Glebe

It’s easy to get lost in Glebe Markets as you wander from stall to stall, marvelling at the unique jewellery, clothes and accessories on offer. Held at Glebe Public School every Saturday from 10am-4pm, with live music playing on the lawn from midday, it’s vibrant and lively environment make it the perfect destination for people of all ages.

Glebe Markets’ claim to fame is it’s the longest running market in Sydney. In fact, many successful businesses have been established within its very walls, and stallholders often trial new products here, giving you the opportunity to be on the cutting edge of creative design, particularly in clothing and accessories. Stalls can be booked as permanent, monthly or casual options, and is done through the market’s website.

Farmer’s Markets

There are a multitude of Farmer’s Markets running around Sydney, attracting thousands of people wanting to get their fresh produce straight from the source.

Every Saturday, the Organic Food Markets Orange Grove satisfy the palates of those in the Inner West, offering everything from organic fresh food to gourmet goodies from France, Argentina, and more. The Organic Markets are also held at Gladesville and Kings Cross on Saturdays, and Marrickville every Sunday.
Carriageworks Farmers Market was previously known as Eveleigh Farmers Market. It’s held every Saturday in the heart of Sydney, with more than 70 NSW and ACT farmers coming to sell their fresh, seasonal produce.

Surry Hills Markets
Crown St, Surry Hills

One of the more casual Sydney markets, Surry Hills Markets is the place to go when you want to dig up some incredible old-school finds. The markets are held at Shannon Reserve on the first Saturday of each month, and offer a mix of emerging designers and artists, vintage finds, and even people just selling off their old knick-knacks.

What’s delightful about these markets is that they’re known for the friendliness of the stallholders. Plus, some designers are even happy to create something for you on the spot. All you have to do is ask! Stallholders must apply for a spot online, and never fear if all the spots are taken – there’s a waiting list you can add your name to.

Rozelle Markets
663 Darling St, Sydney

Step back in time at Rozelle Markets, which has the reputation of being Sydney’s best antique and collectable market. Rozelle offers a unique collection of vintage, antique and old products, including everything from owl figurines to books and piles of clothes. In fact, it’s one of the only markets in Sydney that has stayed true to the traditional flea market style and traditions. You can even get a massage, have a feed, and get a tarot reading if you wish. The markets are held every Saturday between 9am and 4pm. The markets are currently looking for a new home, but it’s definitely worth a visit, so keep an eye on the website to see where they’re located.

Finders Keepers Markets
Australian Technology Park, Exhibition Hall, Locomotive Street, Eveleigh

The Finders Keepers only happens twice a year, but it’s well worth the wait. This year, they’ll be held from the 9th to the 11th of December at Australian Technology Park in Eveleigh. There is a $2 entry fee, (children under 12 years go in free), but even if you don’t find anything to buy, it’s still a lovely spot to visit. The market features more than 200 independent art and design stalls, with merchants coming from all over Sydney, and even some treasured favourites from right around Australia. There’s parking available for those with a car, and there’s an excellent lineup of musicians as well. Applications to be a stallholder are open in August. The Rocks Markets
George St, The Rocks

Regardless of whether you’re a local or a tourist, the Rocks Markets are a Sydney must-see. Every Friday there is a Foodie Market offering freshly baked breads, delectable lunch options, homemade preserves and traditional gozleme. Then, on the weekend, the space is transformed into an open-air market, nestled between the harbour and the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

The markets sell everything from Australian fresh food products to textiles, homewares and beauty products. There are also some beautiful photos and artwork up for grabs, plus, of course, fashion and jewellery. To reserve a stall at the Rocks Markets you must apply by post, and you’ll need to include photographs and samples of your products (which will be returned). The application process is outlined on the Rocks Market’s website.
